Before you embark on your adventure, take time to understand your ATV. Every model is unique and requires knowledge about controls, weights, and limitations to operate efficiently. Review the user manual comprehensively and get accustomed to the feel of the ride during small practice drives.

Packing for Your ATV Ride

Wear all the proper safety gear, from durable clothes to a proper helmet and tough riding boots. 

Also consider bringing along an emergency kit with items like a wrench, knife, fire starter, flashlight, poncho, and extra gas. Some of these will be for patching minor maintenance issues and others will be for survival purposes, in the event help might take a while to catch up with you. This will be especially important as you get farther away from big cities. 

Miscellaneous

Remain sober and vigilant so you won’t lose focus on the path ahead. Don’t leave the trail since you could do damage to the surrounding environment in addition to potentially hitting an unseen obstacle. Pick up all your trash if you stop to have a snack. Leave the trail in better condition than how you found it!
